Multiple smaller checks to avoid the $1000+ funds availability hold at USAA?
I have USAA and I plan on using the Deposit@Mobile method of depositing with the USAA iPhone app. I want to deposit $1200 on Monday but I need the funds a few hours after I create and scan the checks in. I plan on using two $600 checks to bypass the $1000 funds availability hold regulation (that is federally enforced, to my understanding). Any potential blow back?
There's no federally enforced hold back. Any such thing is set by the bank. Just where are these checks coming from that you're depositing? USAA will hold All such non-USAA checks regardless of amount for 5 working days before allowing a withdrawal.
