Does the IP address number has to be the same as the router?

I'm confused because I'm getting full signal from my AT&T modem, but it says I can't connect to the Internet on my PS3 and my iPhone.
Any solutions?

You have a modem. Do you have a router?
They are usually separate devices
(not always, some are surfboard or gateway modem/router combinations)
If you don't have a router, you can't connect a device wirelessly.

Not actually but it must be apart of the same network… Meaning subnet mask…

if the router has a gateway of 192.168.1.1 your computer must have the 192.168.1 part… Called the Network part… The other number is just your Computer number called host…

so 192.168.1.231 is on the router (192.168.1.0) network…

192.168.0.4 is NOT on the router (192.168.1.0) network
