Does the IPhones Do Not Disturb feature work?

So in my high school, there's this new policy where you can bring in IPads or laptops or phones. But if you bring a phone and you get a text or notification you have to read it aloud to the class. How does the Do Not Disturb feature work? Does it shutout all sounds?

I think thats outrageous what your school is doing to you. And how the "do not disturb" feature works is that it silences notifications but it also wastes attery because your phonr is searching for signal so turning "airplane mode" on is actually MUCH more useful

On my iPhone I've used the do not disturb mode hundreds of times for school it's worked every time but I'd also recommend using airplane mode as
well. That way your phone doesn't send or receive any messages. Unless of course you want to text in class which I totally understand but in case you can't find it look for the moon icon at the top of your control center (slide your finger up from the bottom of your screen) and the airplane mode is the little airplane icon of course.
