Dropped my iPhone 4 in water?

No case was on it, took it out in 2 seconds max. When I took it out the screen was working and the phone seemed okay. I powered it down and put it in rice, but now the screen is turning off and on to that white apple screen? I think my warranty covers water damage. Do you think I will need to get a new phone? Thanks

Added (1). It is still sitting in rice.

Added (2). I'm not touching it or turning it on omg. It's just sitting in rice going from black screen to apple screen on it's own, how hard is that to understand?

Put it in rice some more

Put it in a bowl of dry rice.

Don't turn it on anymore.put it in a bag of rice for 48 hours. If it shorts out you will need a new phone.

Warranty does NOT cover water damage…

After working for AT&T for 2 years I know this for a fact.

Your Warranty ONLY covers manufacture defects, such as, if the phone turned off and never turned back on by itself, no help from the water or physical damage, or if it froze.

Physical and Water Damage are protected under INSURANCE which is an optional thing you can PAY FOR, before it breaks (usually ONLY offered within the first 2 weeks to 30 days from buying the iPhone).It would show up on your bill if you have it and have been paying for it, but if you don't have insurance, you're screwed and need to start thinking about getting another iPhone.

Then comes the next problem, trying to figure out when your upgrade is. If your upgrade isn't for awhile, don't bother calling Customer care to scream at them to change it, I can't tell you how many times people would call and DEMAND that I move their upgrade date so they could get a new iPhone, it's NOT possible. Customer service works like this, if you want to order a phone, they open up a store on their computers just like you would on the normal website. The difference is, if a supervisor says it's okay, the supervisor will enter in a special password and will allow that particular customer service rep ONLY to upgrade you right there and then over the phone, BUT, the iPhone will disappear off the order form, so you can't upgrade to that one because it has it's own special rules, there's no way to get around it.

So if those options don't work, you either need to get another phone and WAIT for your upgrade, or go to eBay and try to purchase a used one if you Really want yours back (and you could sell your old one too, people will still buy it even though it's damaged because they want the parts)

If your phone is still under warranty and covers water damage, I think it is best to have it changed.

Here's some free advice "Don't drop your phone in water". Follow that and it's a lot cheaper than paying 400 for a new phone.
