Dropped my iPhone 5c in the toilet last night. Advice?

Hi, I have the iPhone 5c which fell into the toilet last night. I grabbed it right away and tried to dry it out with towel at first. I pressed the lock button to see if it still turned on (which I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do), and it worked. Then, after that it stopped working. It's almost like my phone is powered off because the sound is on and I haven't heard any notifications.

About 5 minutes after dropping my phone in the toilet, I found a bag of rice and suck my phone their for a couple hours (still didn't power on afterwards). Went home from the party and stuck my phone in the rice bag for another 8 hours (left it overnight). And nothing again

Any suggestions? Tricks that you've done? I also have insurance with Sprint for my iPhone 5c, does anyone know how much the deductible would be if I had to take it in?

I was also thinking about calling the sprint insurance hotline to repair phones and telling them that my phone does not power back on, the speakers don't work, or some apple excuse and ship it in. Will they say anything anything? I don't know…

It looks like you've done all you can. Before rice I would have grabbed the hair dryer for a bit to heat up the insides first. Though the build quality is not as great as the 5s. I believe with any insurance you will pay like 100 to 200 though that changes all the time. My word of advice really and I now it could be hard is to ditch the iPhone all together and get a galaxy's 5 that can be put in water and still servive. It is an excellent phone too. I don't know your life style or how clumsy you might be but from the sound of it that type of phone would suit you better. Good luck!

You could so call lose your phone like dump it somewhere. Go to the police station fill out a lost or stolen phone report. Present it to your insurance and get a new one or they might just get you a refurbished one. With what ever deductible price you have to pay. I did this year's ago.

Will they say anything? If your "insurance" does not cover water damage, all they will say is the charge is full retail. So make sure it is in fact insurance that you are talking about and not warranty, If it is in fact insurance, you just tell them it fell into the toilet, because that is what insurance is for, accidents. But if it does not cover water damage, lying will not help, once they get the phone in hand to inspect it.

If there's water damage there's not much you can really do. Its often not worth repairing. I recommend a new one and then buy yourself a waterproof case. I got a cheap one from a website called gadget menders, it works pretty well, no more worrying about droppin it in puddles.
