Dropped my iPhone and the screen cracked?

I dropped my iPhone 5 and the screen cracked, unfortunately I didn't purchase any insurance, with it and I'd like to get it fixed.

Apple charge £150 to fix the screen which is outrageous but understandable because they can, this is too much for me to pay as I'm only 16, I'm willing to pay around £100 and have been offered quotes as low as £40 and as high as £160 but I'm not sure whether to just leave the screen as it is, or get it fixed, I'd like to know if I do get it fixed professionally by a company that specializes in Apple repairs, whether the phone will look and feel as if it hasn't been replaced because I'm willing to pay, as long as the service is good quality. I spoke to the company that specializes in Apple repairs and they said its the "genuine" original screen that Apple get the supplies from, whether that is true or not, it doesn't matter to me as long as the phone feels like the original product and also will the screen be as strong as the original because its not the original screen?

Thanks,
Shaun Jeffries

Added (1). Will the replacement screen be as strong as the original when dropped? I'm going to take very careful precautions to ensure this does not happen again.

There are loads of reputable spares suppliers on eBay and Play.com if you're willing to have a go yourself. Although it is really fidgety, if you follow the tutorials on iFixit or something you'll be able to do it. Just be careful if you're going to attempt that.

However, I'm sure loads of local phone shops, or market stalls, would be able to fix it for you, and you'd usually get it for around £40 - £50.

In all the time I've replaced iPhone screens using eBay or Play spares, I've never had a screen that didn't look or feel as high quality as the original, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Just make sure you read the sellers reviews and feedback.
