FaceTime only works on Wi-Fi not on mobile data
I have Iphone 4 and I can't get FaceTime to work when I'm out such as when using mobile data (it is turned on). A message appears saying i need Wi-Fi to connect. FaceTime only works through Wi-Fi connection. Can you please guide me how to fix this.
You can't fix it, Apple stupidly made Facetime only work if you have Wi-Fi. (I have an iPhone 4 too)
FaceTime on 3g is available on iOS 6
What version of iOS do you have?
Early versions of iOS protected its uses from Data shock.
Facetime will eat data…
and run your data bill over most peoples allowances quickly
hence Wi-Fi only
Later version eg iOS6 will let you enable mobile data, but as I recall you have to go the app permissions in settings to enable it - again to prevent data shock.
trouble is iOS7 is the only choice today if you upgrade and would be a bit slow on the phone.
Skype should still work if you have it without doing this.
so that would be an option.
- Why would Apple make FaceTime only compatible with iOS devices? It doesn't make sense what if someone has an Android! Then FaceTime is useless to the person with the iPhone who wants to video chat with the person with the Android. Someone please tell me why Apple did this, I know it's a stupid question but its bugging me
- My iPhone 4s camera only works on FaceTime? When I go onto snapchat it says my camera restrictions are on but they aren t. On Twitter instagram and normal camera it is just a black screen but on FaceTime both cameras work
- My iphone 4 facetime only works with Wi-Fi I transfered it from at&t to straight talk and now it only works with Wi-Fi, says there's no network connection but the internet works?
- IPhone mic works on calls but not facetime? When I try to FaceTime someone, I can hear them but they can't hear me but if I call them normally we can hear each other? Tried some other voice recognition apps and they can pick up my voice too it's only FaceTime, and I didn't accidentally mute myself either!
