Factory Reset on Netgear router and now it will not work?
We had bad weather Friday and my Wi-Fi connection on my laptop and IPhone was lost. It asked me to enter the Wi-Fi password and I couldnt remember it. Therefore, I did a reset with the button on the back of the router, held it for 15 seconds and now when I go to my Wi-Fi settings, my connection doesn't appear. What do. I do? I tried to get help on NETGEAR.COM but since its been after 90 days, they won't help
Any advice is appreciated.
You have to connect via a wired Ethernet to configure the Wi-Fi again. Log into the router with default administrator, go to the wireless section, and re-configure the wireless settings (usually the SSID wireless name and WPA2 security/password)
It is a mistake to go straight to a factory reset when there are network problems. You should log on to the router from a computer that connects to the router using Ethernet. By resetting the router you will have reset the wireless settings to the factory network name and pass phrase. If the default is for the wireless network to be disabled, then you will have to enable it using the Ethernet connection. The exact defaults will depend on the make and model of the router.
Unless the router is supplied by your ISP and locked to their network, then resetting it will have cleared the user name and password required to connect to your ISP. You will have to set these up again. If you do not know the user name or password, you will have to get them from your ISP.
If you had logged on over Ethernet rather than resetting the router, you could have checked the network name and pass phrase that the router was using.
Always treat a factory reset of a router as a last resort.
- Will the MAC address of my iPhone reset if I reset my iPhone to its factory settings over iTunes? I have jailbroken my device and used terminal to change my MAC address so that I could connect to school's Wi-Fi. But when I wanted to change it to its initial number, I typed in a wrong value and it just messed up my Wi-Fi, I can't connect to Wi-Fi anymore. Wonder if resetting to factory settings would help…

- What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
