Found an iphone 4S, can I get service for it?
Someone left their iPhone 4S at the restaurant I work at. After four weeks of no one claiming it, the boss told me to just take it. The phone had Verizon 3G service on it. I have restored the phone to factory settings and am wondering if I can now switch my Verizon service (plus a data plan) over to this phone or not. How would I be able to figure this out? We already tried to turn it in, that was a no go.
With Verizon they use a ESN number on each of their cell phones to activate. It is very likely the person who lost the cell phone already reported it being missing to Verizon and so Verizon will deactivate that ESN number on that iphone. It will be known as a bad "ESN" which means that iphone 4s can never be activated again if another person found it and tried to activate it.
The only thing you can use on that cell phone is just the Wi-Fi and internet and the apps. You just won't be able to receive incoming or outgoing calls.

- Same network, Iphone 5 only receiving Edge service, Iphone 4 receiveing 3g service? Running IOS 6.1.2 on Iphone 5, 6.1 on Iphone 4 Both on O2 Can't get 3g service on iphone 5. Iphone 4 can and they are both in the same room, any ideas why?
- Putting service on a found iphone? So at my work there was an iphone in the lost and found and our policy is if something is not claimed within 2 weeks, one of the workers can claim it. A month passes, and no one claims it so i claim it and have been using it for just apps and Wi-Fi, and am thinking i want to put service on it. If i went to the verizon store and explained it to them do you think i could get service put on it?
- New iPhone won't get service but my older iPhone gets service? I just got a 6s and went to the Verizon store to get my upgrade. I used to have a 5s. My 5s is still getting service and my 6s is not. I turned off cellular data on my 5s and and made sure both data and LTE were working on my 6s but it still isn't working.
- IPhone 4 gets Service then No Service? Ok so I have an iPhone 4 factory unlocked then when i put my prepaid T-Mobile sim card in, it doesn't work. Sometimes it works then sometimes it just does not work at all, what is wrong with my iPhone, thank you.
