Has anyone have used Sprint carrier and switched over to an unlocked phone?

I currently have the iPhone 6 and it's buyback value is about $200, maybe less. If I get that much and buy myself an unlocked phone, I know I would have to pay for that phone I want. And then I have to choose a different carrier for that unlocked phone depending on its sim card and data. I'm actually on a family plan right now with my mom and the bill is worth $160 every month. Can I take myself out of that family plan and get that unlocked phone? Would this save more money monthly if I got an unlocked phone?

Do you know what an unlocked phone is. It means you can use it with any carrier so if you buy an unlocked phone you can still use sprint as your carrier.

It's cheaper under a family plan based on money solely. It's usually not the best value for your money. Family plan is cheaper, money wise, because the first line is 100 then the next line is 40 so that's 70$ a person. With the family plan you share the data so it might be a 10 gb plan between 2 people so that's about 70$ for 5 gb per person. If you don't get the family plan then it's 100$ for 10 gb. So it's about 10$ for each gb if you don't have the family plan and it's 14$ for each gb if you get the family plan.
