How come the Wi-Fi won't connect to my new iPhone?

I just got a used iPhone today, perfect shape nothing wrong with it. I got home and tried connecting it to the Wi-Fi, and it connected but only in the room with the router. I go out of the room and I lose connection. Is there any way I can fix this? On my Laptop and itouch I get perfect Wi-Fi all the way downstairs in my room. Anyone know what's wrong? Or have had the same problem?

My iPhone Does the same thing, they don't get very good connection unless you have a wide range router, it's perfectly normal but I would recommend getting a wide range router.

Buy a wireless range extender. That should help.
I think it costs around 50 dollars.

Ill play cod bo2 almost daily and my xbox will connect to my mobile hotspot on my iphone 4s fine, but out of no where it will lag out and disconnect me from xbox live, its not a hardware issue everything connects normally, full bars and everything the phone still lets me get on the internet, but my xbox will not, why D:?

I can send/receive text messages a make calls, but it says that it can't connect to the internet because I'm not subscribed to a data plan. I know that I'm through my network (Cincinnati Bell) so what gives?
