How do people take selfies like these?

Like honestly, how do they edit them? What settings do they use or what effects? I have iPhone 6 and even if my make up is on fleek, I can't get my selfies to look that good

Lighting. Pay attention to the color and location of light. Never in a bathroom. Outdoors in the daytime works, but in a shady place with something darker in the background. Also, take a lot of pictures. You might try a hundred in different places to get one good one.

Good photographers know how light works but still delete most of the shots.

Lighting is key. Find a place with lots of natural light but do not take the selfie in direct light. A place with large or multiple windows acts like a natural filter (which is why your skin tends to look better in car selfies, all those windows).

There's also editing going on. In all those "perfect" instagram pictures you see, there's editing, guaranteed. Some phones, like androids, have a "beauty mode" which edits your photos automatically so you look flawless. There's also other apps such as BeautyPlus where you can do small edits yourself (acne, eye bags, lighting etc). It's all editing.
