How fast is internet tethering from an Iphone 5?

My friend has a virgin mobile iphone 5 and I'm going to be tethering from it on the 30th floor of an office building in the downtown area. How fast is it going to be? I'm going to be on a video chat for about an hour, will the video be choppy?

Junk.virgin mobile uses 3g. In basic terms that is really slow, they get their 3g internet through sprint.slower than 1.5Mbps. Thats megabits per second, not megabytes.

Terrible and that technology tethering does not work well. Not for a whole hour / you might be best just sticking to talking

We all like to think these technologies are wonderful but when it comes to wireless (Bluetoothe a good example) few work.

  • Would their be any Wi-Fi tethering apps on a jailbroken iPhone 3GS? Apart from paid apps (MyWi) and useless apps (PDANet), would their be any free wi-fi tethering apps on the Cydia store. I will appreciate and value your responses.
  • Why is USB internet tethering not working on my office PCs? I tried to access internet on my office PCs by USB tethering with my Iphone and Andriod phone but it was not working. USB tethering was successfully working on my home PCs and all my friends' PCs but not on my office PCs. What settings on my office PCs do I have to modify? I believe that issue is not related to windows OS versions because all the PCs are using the same OS.
  • Tethering with iphone 5c jailbroken? I have an iphone 5c ios7 with sprint's unlimited data plan. I jailbroke my phone and want to tether my service to other devices. So I bought thetherme and want to know if anything will happen if i use it. I been looking on the internet and it only mentions att and verision. Any responses would help.
  • IPhone internet tethering Optus? On your iPhone you are able to share your data with your laptop or other devices (tethering). Basically you can use your iPhone as a 3G modem. I'm on a prepaid Optus plan that includes 5GB of data BUT Optus decides that they think we should pay $15/month to use this iPhone feature with separate data. Is there a way I can do this for free without Jailbreaking my iPhone?
