How long should I leave my iPhone in rice for?

I dropped my iPhone 4 into a (shallow) bowl of water. It was in a two-layer OtterBox with all of the flaps closed, and was only in the water for maybe two seconds. I took it out of the case, dried it off, and put it in rice right away. I want to take it out and see if it works or not, but should I wait twenty-four hours anyways?

Leave it off for 4 days. Don't turn it on, don't try to use it.

Another thing. Rice doesn't work. It actually makes things worse since it can't air dry.

Several days for sure.

I think maybe you should give it about a week. Thins would give it time to dry up ad much as possible.

If you want to be absolutely sure, then yes. I would probably do it after 9 or 10 hours though, given the circumstances.

At least overnight, and best for 2 days.

  • Water logged iphone? How long do I leave it in rice? My iphone SE was sitting in a big puddle on the counter for about 15 min before I noticed. The phone was still in working condition but had a few dark and blurry spots on the screen. I went to get rice and the spots seemed to have spread. I put rice in a ziplock bag and completely covered my phone in the rice. The bag was sealed and I'm wondering how long I need to leave the phone inside? I need to use my phone the next day and I'm not sure if it will be alright.
  • How long should I leave my wet iphone in rice? I was pouring milk into my cereal bowl this morning, and the milk container ended up pouring all on my iphone 4S. When it got wet, it wasn't completely soaked, but it's not like it was just a splash of milk either. I think the milk managed to get in some of the cracks. I really don't think it is as bad as an iphone being dropped in water completely, so I'm thinking that I don't need to keep it in rice for as long. How long should I keep it in the rice?
  • How long should I leave my wet iphone in rice? - 1 It only had a little water on it, maybe a 1/8th of a cup. I dried it off as fast as I could, and turned it off. I got my brother to take it apart, and dry some of the main parts. The back is still off of it, and both of them are sitting in the rice. Since it wasn't dropped in water, and its apart in rice, how long should i leave it?
