How to call London from the us?

I Have to call someone in London, I'm currently in the states, so I googled tt and it says to dial 011 44 20 + the number I'm trying to reach, do I did! It's says I have 5 hours for this call, then I connects me, but I expect to hear a ringing tone, but stead I just hear a nipping sound like its busy! Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm using my iPhone 4s? FYI

If you're calling a London landline from the US you'll need to dial the US international prefix 011, then the UK country code 44, then the London prefix (0)20 followed by the landline number which is 8 numbers long beginning with either 3, 7, or 8.
So the number you need to dial will look like this: 011 44 02 xxxxxxxx
The UK ring tone is two short rings, followed by a short pause, then repeat.

  • Which camera should I bring? Studying abroad in London/Travelling Europe? I have these options: a DSLR Nikon camera, a Sony videocamera (small), or should I buy a digital camera? In addition, i'm bringing my iPhone 5s, which has pretty good quality as well. I'm just afraid I'll lose my DSLR, should I buy a digital camera or take the small videocamera? Suggestions? I will be studying for a semester in London and traveling to a few countries in Europe as well.
