How to clear off my information on my broken iPhone?
I want to sell my broken iPhone on eBay, but I need to delete all of my information before I give it to some stranger. My phone still works because I can hear people texting me and my alarm goes off, but the whole screen is broken off (so my screen doesn't work), and my home botton is broken off. How can I clear off my information?
Connect it to itunes and restore it.
Connect it to iTunes, click on "iPhone" then click "restore" (or "Restore to factory settings").It'll take a few minutes but then it'll be done.
If you can connect it to a computer with internet access and iTunes installed, you can do a 'Factory Defaults Reset'. (You can install iTunes from the apple.com website if you need)
Disconnect from the computer if connected, Power the phone off. You may have to figure out where the red slider is supposed to be after you hit the power to do the 'slide to the right' on it. Alternately, let the battery run out.
Press and Hold the home buttn down for 15 seconds. You really need about 10, or until the Triangle icon appears, but if you can't see anything, 15 seconds will do the trick.
Now, connect the iphone to the computer, and run iTunes.
You'll get a popup about 'recovery mode', click ok.
You'll now see the iphone pane, click restore, then wait for it to completely finish.
You now have an iphone exactly the way it comes from the factory, none of your data on it at all.
- Would my information on my iphone 4s be transferred to my iphone 5 if I do this? My iphone 4s cracked, its still working but I'm getting an iphone 5 soon. My iphone 4s is jailbroken. If I back up my iPhone 4s on my computer, will it be saved as jailbroken or not? And can I restore my iphone 5 with the back up (iphone 4s info)? Even if I get the iphone 5s, would all the info transfer?

The back camera on my iPhone 4s broke (just stopped working), so I called Apple and I have an appointment set up to replace the old phone with a brand new one. But, I want to know if when they give me the new phone, will they let me keep the old one? The phone still works fine except for the camera. In fact, it's almost perfect. And obviously I want to sell the old one on ebay to make a boat load.
- Iphone 5 screen broken i can't retrieve information because i'm not capable to trust computer? I have some data i need to retrieve on an iphone. But the iphone won't open due to me either because the device is locked, or because i didn't click trust computer on the device but this CAN't be done because the screen is overly damaged. And yes the iphone still work. Any help?
- If I sell my iPhone5, is there a way to clear my number off? If I sell my iPhone 5, is there a way to remove where it says "your number is ___" and lists my old phone number? Or is a new phone number something the new user must configure? I restored it to factory defaults so I could sell it, but it still lists my number in the contacts menu.
