How to factory restore an iphone 3g with a broken power button?

I have a jailbroken iphone 3g, it has been bricked but when i connect it to the computer and hold the menu button it turns on with the itunes symbol, how can i restore it to an old f/w with out itunes?

Added (1). Since its bricked i can't go to settings

Go to settings > general > scroll at the way to reset > reset all settings

Download redn0w_win_0.9 and do stuff on it there, but on itunes just back it up then restore it to its factory settings

I know that to turn it back on you need to hold down the power and home button, but my power button is broken and I have been using assertive touch as a substitute for the power button.
