How to fix an iPhone 6 that was dropped in water?

I put it in rice as all the websites said I should, but it still doesn't work and doesn't even charge, is there any way to fix it?

Take it to the Apple Store

Rice only absorbs water that is on the outside of the phone, not on the inside where the damage has been done. Water damage on the inside of a phone is nearly always irreversible. You need to buy a new phone.

No, probably not.

I really get a kick out of the "urban legend" about rice saving wet phones. It doesn't work that way. A soft towel will absorb just as much of the outside water and faster. The only way to dry the inside is by either opening it (impossible with most smart phones) or putting it in a warm dry place and leaving it (shut completely off) for a few days. If it still won't work, or if you put it on a charger with a wet inside, it is toast!

BTW: I've also heard the "fix it" about using a hair dryer to warm and speed up drying. Only problem with that is if you get it warm enough to evaporate the moisture, you also got it warm enough to melt the various glue connections inside and ruined the phone.

  • IPHONE DROPPED IN WATER. Red dot, i've already done rice treatment CAN I FIX ON MY OWN? I accidentally dropped my iPhone in water. i placed it in rice for 3 days and its working EXCEPT FOR ONE PROBLEM. The phone won't charge. There's a small, faint red dot in the charging port on my iPhone. Ti read on the apple website to go to the store, and That the warranty doesn't cover if the red dot appears. so can i fix this on my own? Please Help! I need the phone to do my job. And i don't have the time or the money to get it to the store and pay for this.
  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
  • I dropped my iPhone in water, can I fix it? I dropped my phone in the bathtub, it was only in there for a few second before I grabbed it out and dried it off, but the speaker doesn't work now. This happened about five minutes ago. How do I dry it off and get the speaker to work without damaging the phone?
  • I dropped my iphone in water a few months ago? I dropped my iphone in the toilet a few months ago i let it sit in rice for like a day maybe more. But i need it fixed. Is there anyway i can?
