How to import pictures and videos from my iPhone to my laptop?

I just bought an iPhone 5S, and I own a Dell laptop running on Windows XP. My laptop also has the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard driver.

I want to transfer a bunch of personal pictures and videos from my iPhone to my laptop.

However, whenever I connect my turned-on iPhone to the USB port on my laptop, I get the following error message-

"The computer can't detect the scanner or camera."

What could I be doing wrong?

How can I successful import picture and video files from my iPhone to my personal computer?

Suggest you install the apple itunes software, since it contains the necessary drivers for all apple mobile devices like iphone, itouch and ipod. Its free. Also after that run apple software update for the recent updates like control for the icloud account.
Then you connect the phone via usb to the pc.

Also you can automatically have the pictures and video pop up on your pc, if you connect the account associated with the iphone through icloud on the phone and through pc. The pc will automatically grab the data as soon as the pc is turned on. No need for usb cables or what not this way.

Well get itunes and back it up

  • Why does my laptop say there's nothing new to import when I try to upload my photos and videos? I have a Toshiba laptop with a Windows 10 software. Whenever I plug in my iphone to transfer my photos and videos to my laptop, it says that there are no new items found to import. In reality, there are about 2,000 photos and videos on my iPhone that aren't on my laptop. It's only some photos that this happens with though. Like all of the photos in 2013. Any photos more recent are able to be uploaded but not most of the photos from that time period. How can I fix this?
