How to put music on an iPhone other then buying it from ITunes?

There's a lot of apps. I use download mp3. Its free
You don't have to buy music from iTunes but you do have to use iTunes to put the music on the phone.
So if you have CDs you could import the songs & put them on as in example.

You just have to have the music files in iTunes library and you can either keep it synced with that library or you can manually drag and drop the file from the library to the iPhone (in new iTunes this is by drag to the side where a menu will pop up and hover over your iPhone)
If you the manual way, then you have to select it from the iPhone setting area.
- Is it illegal to put music on your iphone without buying it on itunes? I know you can put cds on there, but can you like drag a song into your itunes folder on your computer? (does that even make since?) I have a song I want to buy, but I'm like 20 cents short… So is it illegal to do that or not?
- IPhone screen shows Apple icon then shuts off, then repeats I was updating my software on the iphone when the power went off, then the screen went black and showed the apple icon, then it shus off again, then it shows the apple icon. I plugged it into the computer but they computer does not recogniz it so I can't restore it. What do I do?
