How to record sound and put it in a video project?

For my English class we're starting a group project where we have to record a video. The program we will be using is WeVideo. My job is to edit the video together. All we have to record are our phones. How can I record a narration voice and overlay it onto my video? Can voice memos on iPhone work?

I assume that you will be using a computer to edit all this together. Using the microphone in the phone will sound cheap and cheesy. Beg, borrow, steal a decent microphone and plug it into the computer. Speak your dialog into it. One note of caution. Condenser microphones need a power source. USB condenser mics take the power from the USB connection. So if you get a USB mic, make sure it is a USB mic. Condenser mics sound considerably better than all other types.

  • What is the app that makes you sound like a chipmunk when you record a video? Recently, I've been seeing tons of videos of people recording for about 30 seconds and they sound like a chipmunk. I don't know if it's JUST for the iPhone or for Android, but I'm trying to find out what it is. Can someone give me the name of the app?
  • Snapchat won't record sound, but my phone gets sound on videos? Okay, summoning all the tech detectives here. For months, my Snapchat records a very muffled (almost like its underwater) sound, but you can't reallt hear it. I can't explain it, but the sound is inaudible and muffled. The weird thing is, the problem is only and exclusively on Snapchat. If I record a phone video, the sound is clear as day. I have an iphone. Any thoughts?

The problem is, I hate using the school cameras, they get taken easily and I never have time to use it. So I would like to use my iphone camera(don't mind the shaking) but i'm sure the quality will suffer once I upload the film from iphone to final cut, does anyone know any quality converters so I can have perfect quality?
