How to start a marketing agency?
I'm 18, still in school, and I want to start a marketing/advertising/business image agency.
I've always been good at breaking things down and getting to the root, I'm good with my choice of words and I know how to 'work people'. I get asked by people (teachers, friends, family, family friends etc) on how to portray myself/my business better, how to word a certain document better or just general how to give others a better impression, (I do a lot of the marketing/advertising for my fathers iPhone repair business) I'm also told I've a talent or knack for understanding people as a whole or just an individual and knowing what they want or what they mean to say.
Here, in Ireland, there's a masters in marketing but no degree (you must do a business degree and specialise in marketing), I don't particularly want to wait that long, nor to I particularly want go to college unless it's 100% necessary.
I want to own my own business, I want my success to be determined by my efforts.
How does one go about starting such an agency?
Go to college or university and study marketing and or business. Get a job in marketing and go from there.
You start by working in the field for a while. If you don't want college, OK, but you have no idea how an actual marketing agency works. Work at one for a while, learn on the job, and then peel off to do your own thing. No one's going to hire an 18 year old with no experience to do much of anything of consequences, so get out there, get older and get wiser.
- Would a Milk bar be a successful marketing idea/ project? As a final project in my marketing course, we're suppose to create an original good/service and work with it and plan a presentation filled with reasons why it would work, targets, forecasts etc etc. Another idea is a student utility app, where it can be downloaded into an iphone/ etc and as it says it is a utlility with updates, notes and most things a student would need to survive H.S.
- What works or doesn't work in terms of Social Media Marketing? Facebook, Twitter, Yelp… There are so many options! What are some of things got you (as a customer) hooked and helped you discover new things? What are things that helped helped you (as a business) grow and expand?
- What language should I start with to start developing iOS apps? If I want to develop iPhone apps, should I learn Python first or just go straight to objective C or learn something else? I have 0 programming skills and have only done some web development. I have a Mac and Xcode.
- Sims Freeplay Update - Real Estate Agency? I just downloaded the new Sims Freeplay for iPhone 4S and I completed all the steps to making a real estate agency, except I don't know how to actually build it! The next step for me is to build the agency, and to select a lot near the beach to build it on, but there's nothing over top of the lot (like an add a house or add a sim) and when I click on a beachside lot, nothing happens?
