No. You can only get confirmation that texts have been viewed if you use the same Internet-based texting app on both phones.iMessage is such an app, but it only works on iPhones. There are other apps that work on both iPhone and Android (but none that work on regular dumb cell phones).
Nope. Unless they have iMessage. Even then, they need the option enabled that says they read your text.

- Will my iPhone tell the person I read his text? I got a text and read it and remembered that my read receipts were off so I know it'd still say delivered on his phone. After I read the text, I went to go turn on my read receipts. Will it change right away from delivered to read even though I changed the settings after or will it still say delivered for him since I read it before I changed it?

I have an iPhone 5 and whenever my boyfriend texts me he knows when I've read it or not (that's a whole nother issue… ) and I wanted to know if I could know when someone saw/read a text I sent to them, like he has. How come other phones can do this? Isn't that a privacy issue?
