How to transfer data from one iPhone 4S to another?
My iPhone 4S has some technical problems, for example the volume doesn't work and sometimes the lock screen freezes. So I'm going to go into a phone shop tomorrow and ask how to solve these problems. I've only had my iPhone for 6 months so was thinking maybe they would just replace it? But if they replace it then I would have to transfer my SIM card to the new iPhone, and the SIM card only keeps contacts right, so I would lose all of my apps! If I do end up getting a new phone tomorrow how will I transfer my apps from my old phone to the new one? Should I sync it with my laptop and download all of its apps?
1. Connect the iPhone to your computer using its USB cable.
2. Right-click the "iPhone" tab located in the source pane of iTunes (the side menu), and click "Back Up."
3. Click "Eject" on the "iPhone" tab and remove the docking cable from the older iPhone.
4. Insert the docking cable into the new iPhone and click the "iPhone" tab in the iTunes' source pane.
5. Right-click the "iPhone" tab and click "Restore from Back Up." Select the backup date and click "Continue."
6. Click "Eject" in the source pane to disconnect the iPhone.
I think the first answer is not that perfect. Firstly, the iTunes couldn't help transfer everyting as it has the data limitation. Also, it will lose much of your data. There are 4 conversations that I NEED to keep in their entirety, like every text that we've sent to each other needs to be transferred. How do I do this? I haven't activated the new phone yet. I'm waiting until I know what to do about this first.
