How to transfer mp3 files to a mac?

I have a lot of songs on my PC laptop, but i'm getting a macbook pro soon, and want to transfer them and use them with itunes for an iphone. I don't have a flash drive, but was going to put my music on a DVD possibly to move the files. Can i drag the files from the DVD to a location on the mac? Should i look into a flash drive? What's the standard method for this?

Added (1). Also, can macs open.zip files?

There are many methods

1. Copy them to a Flash Drive (most common)

2. Upload and email them all to yourself and then download the attachments to your Mac

3. Use a service like Dropbox
http://www.dropbox.com/...ropbox.com

3. Burn them to a CD (DVD if a lot of songs)

4. Copy the songs to an iPod, iPad, or iPhone and then transfer purchase (ONLY IF ASSOCIATED WITH APPLE ID)

Give it a try

When you turn on a new Mac, it lets you set up your user account, and one of the screens asks "Do you want to transfer your stuff from another computer?" That works by Wi-Fi and is as simple as can be.

You can't possibly say you like to use a computer without any backup. I'm sure you have heard the warning a hundred times "It's not IF your computer's drive will fail. It is WHEN." Buy an external drive (Not a ten dollar thumb drive, but a reliable one) to use with Time Machine. You can see Time Machine icon glaring at you from the Dock. Apple has lead you to water. Drink.

Optical discs (CDs / DVDs) are not the best choice for storing files. They scratch easily and age poorly. Apple is moving away from them fast-- the MacBook Air, Mac Mini, and Retina MacBook Pros all have no optical drive at all. Also, if all you need is a one-time moving of files, why waste a bunch of DVDs? You can't use them a second time.

OS X has archive-unarchive app built in (Unlike Windows where you must download something). All you do is double-click any individual Zip or RAR to expand it. Right-click any file or folder and choose "Make archive" to Zip it. For segmented RAR files, use Zipeg or "The Unarchiver", both free.

  • Transferring MP3 to iTunes, MP3 not working? I downloaded 40 MP3s in my computer and as usual, I drag them to iTunes so I can connect it to my iPhone. But only 4 were able to transfer. I tried playing the MP3s that didn't work in windows media player but they did not play. They are all MP3 files (the ones that worked and didn't work) how can I make the files play and transfer them to iTunes?
  • No more iTunes? How to transfer regular mp3 files onto a new iphone? I just bought my first iphone, & have several hundred CDs burned onto my laptop's hard drive via Window's Media Player. Is there a way to convert these to be compatible with itunes & use on my iphone, or do I need to stick with my non-Apple mp3 player?
  • I would like to know how to convert Youtube files to MP3 on my Iphone 4? I have an iPhone 4 & would like to know the simplest way to conver youtube songs to MP3 on my device with out having to do any sort of "jail breaking" as I do NOT want to do that. It would be a big help if I can do it on my iPad as well as I have iCloud. If anybody can give specific instructions it would be very helpful. I'm relatively new to IOs.
  • I can't send mp3 files though my iPhone 5, is there a fix? I really need a fix to send songs from my iphone to other phones via text/email/whatsapp. Is there any possible way? I have used google to find a solution, but everything there's old and dint work when I tried. I'm not willing to spend on apps unless there's a guarantee that they will fix this! The two minute audio note does not help.
