How to turn off the severe weather alerts on my iPhone?

I had gotten a blizzard warning on my iPhone at about midnight when I was sleeping, and it scared me to death! I'm not sure what kind of sound it was, but it was loud and obnoxious. Is there any way to turn those off? I don't mind being woken up by an alarming sound if there's like a tornado warning, but not for blizzards.

Not sure about iPhone, but on droid it's a setting under messaging / alerts. And yes, it's irritating!

Check under the Notifications section of the settings app on your iPhone. There's probably a weather app you have installed that is sending the alerts.

Settings -> Notifications -> Government Alerts

I want to know what app this is so I can download it. She had an IPhone. I was going to ask what it was but before I got a chance they called her in the back.
