i don't know just push digits over & over again until it tells you to wait(a certain amount of time) to try again, then guess again until it tells you to connect to iTunes… I guess you can factory reset it & update it. It may unluck it.

Search 'iphone DFU mode' on google. This will reset the phone so when you connect it to itunes you will have to factory reset the phone and set it up as a new device. You will however loose all data that was on the phone. I hope you're doing this legally and with your own device as doing this with any other device is a breach of Apple T&C. (I think DFU is a breach anyway!)
You remember the passcode, thats how you do it. Otherwise it just has to be wiped.
By the way if the phone is on right now, they most likely have your house marked because find my iphone is notifying them of the exact location where the phone is on the map.
- My iphone 3 GS has lost all sound except phone calls. What has happened? Other than phone calls my phone has no sound at all, not even a click from the keyboard. I have also noticed that video will not stream in you tube. I have not been playing around with the settings at all. This has all happened suddenly.

I saved everything to icloud before hand and all my pictures are on my computer already so i'm just nervous about losing my contacts, bu those should be saved to icloud, i'm wondering if I end up having to restore it will my icloud get wiped too or will I be able to get to my contacts again?

- Iphone asking me for a passcode to install update. I never set up a passcode. Options? I just tried to update my iphone to 7.1.1 and i'm being asked for a passcode. I never set one up, but entered what I would have made it, and now have a message saying "FAILED. One more attempt". What happens if I get this final attempt wrong? How do I continue with update if I can't remember this passcode?
