I DROPPED MY IPHONE IN WATER

My brand new IPhone 4S fell out of my back pocket and into the toilet before I could sit down, in my shock I took it out and wiped it down from the water. I used a blow dryer for a few minutes and then stopped cause I knew it wouldn't work. I know online it says you're suppose to turn it off right away but it kept turning on after or restarted so I left it on. I read on google that rice works so I did that and left it for a quick little while then took it out and used a vacuum on both top and bottom to suck the water out (if possible). After doing that for about 15 mins, I was able to touch the screen again and everything was fully functioning, so I figured my phone was fine because it was only in the water for at least 2 seconds nothing more and was still fine, everything worked, I was able to charge it, etc. However it is now the second day and when I got home to charge it the battery would not budge, it would say its charging but wouldn't actually charge… The battery would just drain, and not go up. This concerns me because everything was fine yesterday, and it was fully functional but now it won't charge. Please can anyone help or give suggestions as to how I can fix it or if it's still wet and I just need to dry it out more? I hope you guys can help me and that my problem has a simple solution so I don't have to panic. It's currently sitting in a food container with rice, and I don't know what to do with it now. I'm just worried because I don't want to get a new one or pay for it to be repaired cause they are both fairly expensive. So please tell me I'm not completely doomed and there's a way to save me!

Don't plug it in! Leave it in the rice for two days then try it. My son dropped his iPod touch in the sink I had dishes soaking in and it was there for a few minutes. The rice worked after about three days.

So when you put clothes in water "only for 2 seconds" do they not get wet? 2 seconds is plenty of time in water to destroy electronics. You might have to take it to an apple store to see if they can help you.

What I do is I put the electronic to completely off then I put it in rice which extracts all of the water out of it

I an having the same problem I dropped it in watter and left it in rice for 2 days and won't turn om I will try and plug it in

  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
  • I dropped my iPhone in water - 3 I just dropped my phone in water about a minute ago(it's 9:25 PST). I hurried up and got it out dried it off as fast as I could. It was working fine until now. It keeps popping up "charging not supported on this device" and also I just found out the sound isn't working! Now I can't even listen to all the money I spent on my songs. Is there anything to help this? I was thinking I can back it up on iTunes? Would that help? I don't know I just need major help please.
  • I dropped my iphone in water and it won't turn on? I dropped my iphone in the toilet about 3 hours ago and right after i picked it up from the water, i put it in rice. The phone turned off by itself and about a few minutes ago i went to check and my phone was hot. So i'm wondering if i should keep it in the rice or do something else?
