I have the iPhone 4s and my screen went completely black on Saturday night?

I honestly didn't even drop the phone I've had it for a little over two years with no problems but when it went black on Saturday the phone was still technically on. I could hear all my phone calls and messages still coming through, just couldn't see anything. I will be ordering a new iphone tomorrow, but for the time being I had my phone number transferred to my dad's old Droid X. I still hear my iPhone recieving messages because almost everyone I text has an iphone, so they're sent thru imessage.
Long story short, I have three jobs, so can't not be getting my messages just in case its about work so my dad is going to let me borrow his ipod touch to use, i'm always connected to Wi-Fi, so should be able to log into my apple id and i will then on receive all imessages sent to my phone as well if i add it to the list of receptants.
BUT i know there are numerous messages on the broken iPhone that i need to read so is there any way possible to go look at my imessage history maybe and be able to read the messages that were already sent through to the iphone, but not read or opened yet because the phone is obviously not usable.
anything will help, thanks so much

Hmm this is a tricky one! I'm really sorry for you!
Maybe try taking it in to Apple and ask them what's going on and ask for help and see if there's any way to fix it?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
