IIm traveling to the UK for my first time and was wondering what I should do for communication?

I live in the US and I have an iphone 6 and do service with Sprint. I would like to be able to communicate when IIm in London and text or call locally. I'm planning on keeping that to a minimum and IIm looking into some payphones and was wondering what I could use for a payphone and how could I get one? I was also told about the app, Viber and I could use that on my phone and not have to get a phone in the UK. I'm however, concerned about using viber because wouldn t I be charged data roaming and how would it work if I had my data off and no Wi-Fi? Also, if I got a UK sim card for my phone, wouldn t I loose the information I already have in my phone? If I do get a prepaid phone, who should I get it from and could I get it shipped to the US?

Your advise is appreciated… Thank you.

I'd get a new card, it's really expensive when going to a different country for calls and texts so use a uk card when in the uk and you can switch to your American one when you get back. Hope this helped!

You have several options. The first is to look into getting your iPhone unlocked. Most phones are sold 'locked' to the provider that sold it to you. If you give them a call, they should be able to unlock the phone so that any SIM from any other provider can be used. There may be a waiting period and/or a charge for this. Alternately, you can get a cheap, unlocked travel phone (less attractive for thieves). I have one from a company called Telestial that deal in travel phone solutions - it's an android, so apps work just fine. For the SIM, the cheapest option is to get a local SIM card. You could also get a prepaid roaming SIM card, which means you can only use the credit you've paid for in advance, meaning no large bills. Again, Telestial can help you out here, and since they're based in the US, can ship you a phone and SIM before you travel.

  • Traveling by train for the first time in the UK? I 'm traveling to Manchester soon, will be staying for a couple of days then will head to London, i'am planning on taking the train from manchester to london, the only problem here is that i don't understand the whole "platform" "district line" etc. is there a direct train that can take me to where i want to go? Or at least an app for iPhone that explains in detail on where to go and what train to take?
  • Is tbere any major différence between thé iPhone 6 and the 6s? Whooppeee is Xmas again and my daughter wants new 2nd hand) iPhone… 2 years ago almost bought her 5 before i réaliséd that it was 5s she wanted ( cos thé 5 sucks?) And I don't want to screw up this year…
  • I'm traveling in Europe in February. What should i use for taking photos? Should i use an attachble lens that attaches to my iphone or should i just use a traditional point and shoot camera? Any brand suggestions?
  • How international communication works with iPhone? Next year my best friend is studying abroad (in Argentina I think). We text each other constantly and I was curious as to how that will work when she is outside of the US. She has an iPhone, and mine is just regular. I use Verizon and I was wondering if we would still be able to text, without any outrageous fees or costs. If not I suppose we could just I'm or email.
