I spilt diet coke on my iphone 4 what do i do?

Hi last night i was at a halloween night out on a ghost tour and in between tours (i went on 2 tours) me and my boyfriend went to the cafe to get something to drink i got a diet coke paid for it and drunk half of it and put it in my bag were my beloved iphone 4 and kindle were i didn't realise there was a tiny hole in the bottle. Then i noticed leaking from my handbag i took the bottle out and nearly half of the contents were spilt in my bag. I took out my phone and kindle dried them off put them in my pocket and done the next tour. When i got home i turned on my kindle first it was fine then i turned on my phone and the first thing i noticed was the volume kept on going up and down by itself them it would turn off and on then it took ages to text people and to enter my lock screen password.i'm so peeved off about it.

someone told me to put it in a bowl of rice to dry it out for 24hr and my mum told me that i should've dried it out when it first happened but i didn't know that.

will my phone be fine once i turn it off and put it in a bowl of rice for 24hr then charge it up and turn it on? I really hope so a i won't be able to get a new iphone til after christmas. And i need that phone to do my youtube beauty videos on.

please help and should i put in a claim against the place for selling me a diet coke bottle with a hole in it? I'm not sure what to do.

Use the old put it in a bag of rice trick. It actually works because that happened to me a week ago and now my phone works.

Rice is what you do as soon as possible and for putting in a claim against the faulty pop bottle its your word against there's that it didn't happen elsewhere or that you didn't put the hole in it. You never said if your phone was still under warranty but if not see about a fix. Other than that your outta luck

Rice might dry it out… But the diet coke will eventually kill it… Rather depends how much coke, and where it wen.t Sorry but the same fate probably awaits your kindle.Lets hope they last until "after christmas"

Putting a phone in rice can save it if it's done immediately after the phone has been exposed to water. Doing it much later doesn't help, and nothing will save it from a sugary soft drink. The sugar will destroy it.

You might have dried the moisture out but you left the sugar content behind.

Sugar = Carbon. Carbon conducts electricity and causes shorts in
micro electronics as well as corrosion.

Sorry to say that is going to cost you a new phone because that will
NOT be covered by the warranty on it.

As for a claim against the vendor you have no chance of making one.

All they have got to say is you never said it was leaking before you left
therefore something in your bag must have punctured it.
