Verizon does not use SIMs. Neither does Sprint.
Long story short, assuming you are trying to buy a Verizon iPhone 5, you wouldn't be able to.
None of them (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T) will work in India because those are US Companies and will work in American sub continent only.
If you're thinking to buy iPhone for $99, $199 from apple store then note. Apple only ships iphones in US and the low prices are because of 2 year contract and that is also for US. If you want and iphone in india than you have no choice but to buy it for 30-40k
You may buy iPhone. If you want to make a phone call or browse the internet, some mobile service provider has to connect you. Verizon, Sprint or AT & T do not have presence in India. You need a sim card from a local service provider.
