I want to change my iPhone 4S to a prepaid phone?

Right now, I'm under AT&T and I'm sick of it. Mostly because of the 4G usage making the bill so high. Someone explained to me that it's because of where I live. There aren't that many AT&T towers in my area which is why my 4G disappears so quick and why it is so expensive. They say Sprint is better because they're 4G is cheaper. So now I want either a Sprint, Boost, or Virgin Mobile prepaid plan. But at the same time, I don't and I can't replace my iPhone. Also, I just got it a year ago so a cancelation fee would be $200. They say I could freeze my account and still use my iPhone by unlocking and putting in a new plan. But how does it work? What should I do? Where should I go?

This posting is rather nebulous and undefined. You want something. Some unknown sources appear to be whispering in your ear and you are responding to gossip. Are you aware of what you are doing? You say "They say… " Who is saying this? All you report for sure are the high bills, no report of amounts, with AT&T. That puzzles me since, while I do not have a smartphone and use prepaid cell phone service, most companies offer flat rates with unlimited calls and text. Is data different? In any case, you wish not to pay $200 for an early termination. But if you do not cancel and pay $200 what would one more year cost you? You know the bills and we do not. In closing, you must run the numbers and make a choice based on FACTS. "They" saying something IS NOT FACTUAL. You must find out as to the transition costs versus staying. Perhaps if you wish to stay until the end of the contract is it possible for you to not use the smartphone so as to create the very bill you are complaining about?

Most services will cancel your plan if you call and complain about the service and reception, but you must be adamant that your phone is not working in your area and home and they should not be able to charge you for the cancellation fee. This is for all cell phone providers because when you sign the contract with them you are signing for a clear signal and reception in your home. If it does not work for you then they can't charge you. You must argue with them through customer service but trust me they can and eventually with enough nudging will cancel your service. If you do go with prepaid i would suggest Virgin as I have used them for years and have traveled all over the country with no problem using them. I have an iphone through them and love it. One suggestion I have for you is to sell your current iphone through craigslist and get money for a new phone through your new provider, it will be easier for you than trying to get the phone unlocked, though you can find people to do this for you through craigslist as well. If you do decide to go for virgin you can use this link https://refer.virginmobileusa.com/IYUM7f and get 25 dollars off your first month pay. Virgin doesn't charge you for activation or have any contract but you get unlimited data and texting with all of their monthly plans. The cheapest one right now is 30 dollars a month with unlimited everything and 300 minutes. Hope it works out for you.
