If I buy an iPhone 4s from verizon, could i use it without activating it with a plan?

I'm looking to buy a used Apple iPhone 4s from amazon, but i already have a phone and will only be using it as a replacement for my ipod 4. So what i need to know is will i be able to use the phone (download apps and music and stuff) without getting a plan? I realize i will not be able to use the calling, texting, and data.

Yes, you can use the Wi-Fi and all the apps

  • Verizon iPhone 5 not activating? I received my new iPhone 5 today and it keeps saying that it isn't activating and to call the Verizon customer support number if the problem persists. Unfortunately it is after business hours and I can't call them until tomorrow. Is there anything that I can do to activate it now? I've set up the iPhone and backed it up and turned off my other activated phone that this one is replacing and it is still not activating. Any ideas?
  • Use an iPhone without a data plan? (verizon)? I have a flip phone that has been failing me lately. I went to verizon and saw a very small selection of phones that don't require data plans, and out of the selection there weren't any that I saw good reviews for. I know the iphone is a good quality phone, and I really want to get one, but I'm not looking to spend money on the data plan that I know I won't use. is there a way to have an iphone and not have to pay for the internet?
  • If I buy a iPhone 4s for Verizon Wireless, would I be able to use the prepaid plan? Currently, I'm a customer of Virgin Mobile. I have been having issues with getting good signal, so I'm considering switching to Verizon. I can't use any plan other than the prepaid plan, but I would rather buy the iPhone 4s from somewhere other than the Apple Store or Verizon online. Would I still be able to use the prepaid plan on this phone? Also, how would I pay each month? Is there a card I can buy?
  • How to use an iPhone on Verizon without a data plan? I'm so sick of the garbage basic phones Verizon has, but I have no need for data (I would only ever use Wi-Fi).
