Instagram doesn't work with iPhone 3G?
My iPhone is IOS 4.2.1. When I try to download it, it says that I need IOS 4.3.
Is there a way I can get a past version that works with my phone or something?

Added (1). I can't update it since the iPhone 3G only goes to IOS 4.2.1.
Update it
Connect it to your laptop or computer, open iTunes on your laptop/computer, then click check for update, it might show IOS 6 so update it to that.
Sorry you can't get an old version. It's only supported for iOS 4.3 and up. If you are jailbroken, then possibly you can download an older version on Installous.
Unfortunately because your phone is an iPhone 3G it is no longer supported for updates past 4.2.1. The original iPhone and the 3G are no longer hardware supported by Apple. They are even replaced with 3GS' if you need a replacement!
Your best bet would possibly be looking into either upgrading your device, or jailbreaking. As from the app store you can't download an older version of an application.

No, you can't get older versions of programs from the App Store. Unfortunately there's really no way to make it work other then to "jailbreak" the software.

Yeah been having the same problem. Have have jailbroken iphone 3g with ios 4.2.1. Tried installous but only version of instagram which is 3.0.0 still states that invalid ipa. NO
