IPhone 4s stuck in recovery mode?

I got out an old iPhone 4s to use because I broke my iPhone 5. The 4s was still running ios 5, so I connected it to iTunes to update it. Before it finished updating there was an iTunes alert saying the update could not be completed (something like that) and my iPhone was put into recovery mode. I again plugged the iphone 4s nto the computer to restore it, but everytime I plug the phone in, iTunes doesn't bring up anything about the phone. How can I get out of recovery mode when iTunes isn't even recognizing my device? Http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/Recovery_Mode_(Protocols) my phone looks like the first picture.

Added (1). I actually figured out how to do this. If anyone else has this problem- download redsn0w, then download a package of the ios you wish your device to have. Then use redsn0w and go to restore. It is pretty simple. Email me at parkerm0326@comcast.net if you need more help.

Apple products in general completely suck in my opinion.

Go into your phone company and see if they can tell you what to do. Or you can try exiting out of itunes and see if your computer will reconnize your iphone without itunes and if it does go into itunes and try again.

I wrote this in my Notes just in case I needed it for occasions like this.

How to Get Out of Recovery Mode.

In order to get out of Recovery Mode or have any problem with Updating an IOS firmware, you need to do the following:

Download the IOS firmware needed to update or restore: This is essential to update, restore or get out of recovery mode. One place where I can get my downloads it's in http://www.ijailbreak.com/ijailbreak-downloads-section/. Just scroll down, look for the IOS for your iDevice and if possible, save it in the desktop, because it would be easier to find it when needed. This is the first step.
Set the iDevice in DFU mode. Sometimes Apple wouldn't let you update or restore because an IOS firmware it's not signed anymore. To avoid this situation, you must set your phone in DFU mode. To do this, plug the iDevice in the computer, if iTune pop up, close it. Now turn the phone off, press and hold the power button for exactly 3 seconds, now, after the 3 seconds is up do not let go of it, instead press and hold the home button with the power button for some 10 seconds, after the 10 seconds is up let go of the power button but still keep holding the home button for another 10 seconds. Now you should have a black screen if successful. To verify it, open iTune and it should give you a message with an iPhone is in recovery mode or something along those lines. Now, let's head to the part 3 to restore or update.
Press Shift or Option. If you are in Windows, in order to make this successful, we need to bypass the Apple server, and we can do this by pressing the Shift key while clicking the Restore in iTune. In a Mac it would have to be the Option key. This action allow you to open new windows for you to search for the IOS that you downloaded before, since it was saved in the desktop, it should be no brainer. Choose the IOS firmware and click OK.

Now, it start to restore, just read the instructions or directions until the end of the section. If for any reason it warn you that it failed, try again. Sometimes it takes more than one time to do it successfully, maybe because the DFU mode didn't work, or any other problem. Always make sure you have the latest version of iTune. Make sure driver are up to date (Windows). If you have a problem iTune not recognizing he iDevice, turn the computer off, change the cable to another USB port, and turn the computer on again, connect the iDevice and it should be recognize now.
