Iphone 5c or 5s for college student?

I really like the 5s because it is obviously the latest technology from apple, but the 5c is cheaper.
i'm a college student paying for the phone my self, so obviously cost is a heavy factor. I'm also on the go a lot and use my current phone (iphone 4s) for pictures, music, and social media. I have the 16GB 4s right now and i'm pretty low on space.
the $99 5c is a really great deal, but storage space is just as important to me as cost.

do you think it would be better to pay the $199 for a 32GB 5c, or would a 16GB 5s be worth it?

does anyone have a c and like it?/ have tried both?

i just want to make sure that the 5c isn't lacking in quality for such a cheap price.

I have the iPhone 5s, and I think you should get the 5C. The Touch ID on the iPhone 5S works well because of the 7.1 update. But that's pretty much the only difference out of the two phones. The slow motion videos take up a lot of space and is sort of stupid. Yeah, the iPhone 5S is one second faster, big difference (sense sarcasm). My mom has the 5C and LOVES it. Yeah, it's made out of plastic, but it has a metal base under it. My mom has dropped her iPhone 5C plenty of times w/o a case and there isn't a scratch. Plus, the iPhone 5C is cheaper and it looks like you use up quite a bit of space. I HIGHLY recommend the iPhone 5C. I have the 5S and I think it was a waste of money.

I've had both the 5 (which is essentially the 5C) and not have the 5S. Honestly, performance on everyday things really isn't an issue. The 5/5C pushes out just as much performance as the other in EVERY DAY USE - aside from the benchmarks. If you need more storage I would go with the high capacity 5C. Keep in mind you will be using the phone for 2 years though since it looks like you're going to get it subsidized.

Oh and a side note, the fingerprint scanner on the 5S is still a bit gimmicky, it needs some work done before I could say it's a good to go.

You may also get better signal with the 5C as the plastic is reinforced by metal which doubles as a bigger antenna.

The 5c is definitely lacking quality. It is made out of plastic and just was build with all around lesser quality than the 5s. The 5c was actually designed for younger people for those reasons, less quality so less expensive. I would research the speculation differences to compare the specific things that will pertain to your needs.

Iphone 5c is better

I would say get 5S and plan on using it all 4 years at college, its a powerfull phone so it will run the new OS's for years to come. If you don't have the money then 5C is also a good option but long term I think 5S will be the right one.

  • What's the best laptop for an incoming college student? I'm going to college this fall and I'm torn between a laptop like the dell xps 13 or the Macbook air 13'. I really like the touchscreen option for the dell, but I like apple products, even though I've only ever used an iPad and iPhone. I might use products like photoshop and blendr for fun. I'm so torn. Are MacBooks easy to get used to? Is a touch screen helpful? Which laptop do I get?
  • What's the best camera for a college student? I'm looking for a decent camera under $250 for college. I don't really like using my iPhone as a camera because the pictures aren't great. My main priority is low-light. I don't need a lot of features, just a good camera that takes nice pictures, especially in low-light. Right now I'm leaning towards the Sony Cybershot DSC WX150 (slightly above my price range) or a Canon Powershot 510.
  • Is it possible for an entering college student to realistically survive without a smartphone? (Ranting WELCOME)? I currently have a smartphone (iPhone SE) that is badly cracked, and I've gotten the opportunity to get a new one, which happens to be, a dumbphone. I'm entering college in a few days, with a super high powered, functions I'll probably never use laptop, could I realistically survive in college without a smartphone? Please give the hard truth REAL details… Feel free to rant!
