IPhone 5s to 6s on Virgin Mobile?

I was wanting to buy an iPhone 6s directly from Apple. It gives an option to buy a "SIM-Free" iPhone. Would I be able to simply take the SIM card from my current iPhone 5s and switch it over to the 6s?

No. The 5 uses a microSIM, but the 6 uses a smaller nanoSIM.

It's no biggie, just tell Virgin you wish to transfer your phone account to the new phone and they'll supply a free nanoSIM and you can then get your number transferred from the old to the new SIM. If you do it it a Virgin Mobile shop they'll also transfer any data stored on the old SIM to the new one; usually that may just be some phone contacts details but it's easier to just fully back up your old phone to iTunes or iCloud (or both for added safety) and then restore the back up to your new phone. A full back up means that even your apps will be transferred except for any incompatible ones.

Trimming your microSIM down to nanoSIM size is fiddly, risks damaging the SIM and can often result in it jamming in the new phone. Simply not worth it when swapping SIMs is so easy.

  • Will Virgin Mobile swap my iPhone 4s for the iPhone 5? IPhone 5 and iOS 6 was announced today. Will virgin mobile allow me to do this swap? I'm on a 3 year contract, with 2 years left.
  • Why can't I receive emojis from an AT&T iPhone on my Virgin Mobile iPhone? My girlfriend can't send me emojis through messaging but can on kik, kakao and things like that. We both have iPhones, so I don't see why she can't. Hers is jail broken, but she can send emojis to other people, just not me.
  • Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile? I'm moving to Houston this summer and I'm looking for a cheaper cell phone plan. I talk, text, email, fb etc. I had virgin mobile back in 2004 and I love it and had no problem. I have a android galaxy s3 right now which I love but the battery isn't so great. I'm thinking about possibly buying an iPhone. What I'm really looking for is reviews on virgin and boost mobile. If you have any other cheap cell phone plan carrier suggestions I'm up for that too.
  • Virgin Mobile iphone 4s: Does it work on T-mobile? If I purchased the unlocked iphone 4s from Virigin mobile would I be able to use it on T-mobile? Does anybody know if the virigin mobile iphone has a spot for a sim card like the ones T-mobile uses?
