IPhone 5s unlocking explanation?
OK so I live in the West indies and I have family in the US. I want a 5s but they won't spend the full price for an unlocked phone. But they have unlocking services where I live so I suggested that they buy the 16g with at&t and I get it unlocked where I live. They said they have to set up a plan and contract with at&t. Can they just set up any random plan and give me the phone then I unlock it without paying for the service plan per month?
Those discounts require a 2-year contract plan so they would have to pay for the plan for two years or pay several hundred dollars to terminate early.
If they got the phone and didn't activate it on the plan then AT&T would charge them full price for the phone as it would be considered a purchase.
Basically this isn't going to work for saving money.
- Unlocking sim for iPhone 3gs? Ok, so I've been having a lot of trouble with trying to unlock my iPhone. I jail-broke my phone a month ago and I have cydia and all that stuff, and I don't think that's what you use to unlock the simcard. Maybe it has something to do with the firmware? It's 05.16.05. If I have to update the firmware, or download something on my phone please tell me. I just want to use the phone.

I want to use it for koodo, so i bought a new SIM card today, thinking that i could unlock it myself, but it seems really difficult, i don't want to buy software to do it. Do i have to jailbreak it to unlock it? And how do i unlock it easily?
- Unlocking iPhone for US Cellular? I have a Verizon iPhone but I would like to unlock it so that I could use it with US Cellular. Does anyone know if this will work before I waste my time and money trying to unlock this phone?
- Unlocking Iphone 4s outside USA? One of my uncles bought me an i phone 4s from USA. But it's a locked version so I can't use it here in Sri Lanka. Can I know is there any way of unlocking the Iphone safely? And what happens to the contract with at&at if I unlock it here? Do we have to pay anything to at&at or something? I can't buy an unlocked Iphone because it's too expensive for me.
