IPhone LCD not working after water damage?
So I dropped my iPhone 5S (about 2 months old) in the toilet yesterday and it seemed to have survived unscathed once I'd dried it in a bag of rice for a few hours. I put it on charge last night, woke up and the LCD is suddenly completely fried; it's displaying nothing and is not just a backlight issue. The phone still works as I'm able to input my password from memory and receive text messages and app notifications. I have reset the phone to factory settings and this has not helped. The nearest apple store is 30 miles away and, as I'm currently away from home, I have no means of DIY fixing the screen, so any non-hardware fixes would be appreciated.
The display is most likely shorted out. YOu know - smartphones do not mix well with water, because things like this could happen. Consider yourself lucky, that its only the display. Now - how exactly do you want to repair dead lcd without changing it?
Yep, you want a non-hardware fix when the problem is on the hardware.
Good learning experience on how to take better care of your phone. Now you get to to take it it to an apple store to see how much damage you did.
Take it to the nearest apple store and contact the technical department, only they can help you now and do install Leo Privacy Guard in it. This app will help you to hide your favorite images and videos and also it will help you to lock certain applications.
- Will my iPhone still work after water damage? It fell into a bucket of water last night and I can't turn the phone off because the screen is black. I can hear the phone ringing and vibrating, but can't see anything. I put it in a bowl of rice, is this fixable? Will the screen eventually work?
- Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
- Iphone submerged in water, logic board has water damage? My phone was under water for 10 sec. Atleast and in my wet pocket for about 2 minutes. Led wouldnt turn off and power / lock button didn't work… Put it in rice and two days later i charge it apple logo pops up then writing pops up above the apple logo. Will the guy taking my phone to clean it out and try to fix it need my passcode? And will my contacts, apps, photos, music, internet history still be on my phone? Like when he fixes it turns and on and stuff?
- IPhone 4s working again after water damage? My phone was fully submerged in water when I found it in my purse a couple days ago. It has been sitting in rice since then, so I took it out and plugged it in and it was working perfectly fine for about ten minutes, but then it told me the temperature was too hot. Any advice? Has this happened to anyone before?
