IPhone storage is being weird?

When I go into my settings, it says that I have 174 GB available on iCloud. But when I try to download something on my iPhone, it says that I don't have enough available storage. Why is it doing this and how do I fix the problem so that I can download stuff again?

Go to Apple, they'll be glad to help. Or contact them online thru their website.

ICloud storage and your phone's storage are 2 different things. ICloud storage is a server ran by Apple that you can upload data onto. So whatever is in the iCloud storage can be accessed from your phone but not actually be on your phone.

Think of it as YouTube, when you watch a video, the video is on their servers, not on your phone. The same applies for storage. To make room you will need to delete some stuff such as music, photos, videos and apps.

You can check your phone's storage by going to Settings>General>Usage. Notice you will have 2 sets of data, your storage on your device and iCloud storage. You want to make sure that you have enough available storage, not iCloud storage.

Storage on iCloud is not the same as storage on your phone. The iCloud storage is on Apple's computers in their data centers, and is much larger than what you have available on your iPhone (if you are signed up for extra cloud storage). When you download something, however, it takes up space on your phone, not on iCloud.

Icloud storage is different from phone storage.
your iphone only has certain storage you can't download apps to icloud
i suggest delete some unused apps or upload your photos to your computer and delete them off your iphone to save space

  • Why does my iPhone 6 (16 GB) show that 11 gigabytes are taken up, when only about a gigabyte of my storage is actually being used? Please tell me, I can barely do anything on my phone with this! And please tell me if there's a way to fix it!
  • What to do about my iphone storage saying I'm using up way more photo storage than I actually am? My storage says I have 132 photos that's using up most of my storage; almost 3 GB. I have only 52 photos and 15 videos in my phone. It seems like it may be using storage from pictures I deleted, but apparently they're still using space? ? Has this happened to anyone else. I've taken my phone to an apple store, and I didn't get any answers.
  • Is it weird that I was born in 1996 and I can't relate to being Generation Z? I was born in 1996 and I can't relate to those born after 1999 because I wasn't as spoiled as those born in the 2000s. I'm aware that there was internet in the mid to late 90s but the internet was not really used as much until say 2000. Like a good example is that a 5 year old today is on an IPhone at age 5 when they should be enjoying their childhood. I guess I call us 1996-1999 babies as hybrids while those born after 1999 are true Gen Z
  • IPhone being weird, how to reset? Yesterday I wanted to update my iPhone so I did it without connecting it to iTunes. Since then it has been showing the Apple logo in front of a black background, then the screen goes completely black and just repeats. I tried to hold down the home and power but nothing happened. When I try to connect it to my laptop it doesn't show up in iTunes. Does anyone know what I should do? I have all my stuff backed up so I'm willing to reset it to factory settings.
