Is 1gb of data enough for iphone 5? - 1

I want to upgrade to an iphone 5. The deal offered has 1gb of data per month. I generally use my phone for email and facebook but i've heard that iphones can eat up a lot of data and end up costing a fortune. Is 1gb enough?

As long as you arent using it a lot when youre out of the house and you are using Wi-Fi all the time at home.

Honestly I doubt it, especially if you watch YouTube.

If you casually browse Facebook and your email then you might be able to get by with just 1GB of data.

Did you know you can check how much data you currently use? Look on your phone or monthly statement. There should be an option in your settings to view how much data you use on your phone. Do a quick search to find out.
If not then look at your monthly phone statement. There should be a section that lets you know how much data you use a month.

Better go with the preferred 23 megabytes. It's a little bit more expensive, but worth it in the long run

It is enough.

More than enough. Unless you go Youtube crazy, you'll never need a 1Gb! Haha

Depends on what you are using it for. If you have Wi-Fi in most places you are based like home and work then generally yes as you will only be using the data when out of these areas. If off Wi-Fi you use it for web surfing and email with occasional youtube, skype, viber etc then yes it will be fine. However, if you are heavy downloader of apps etc when not on Wi-Fi or use it for tethering laptops or tables then you probably want 2gb.

If you are not sure, remember that your network provider would be happy (obviously) to upgrade you to 2gb at a later date. Start with 1gb and monitor how much data you start using. It it looks like you are heading above your limit then upgrade it, just remember that paying ad-hoc data outside of your limits is a lot more expensive then having a contract for a higher limit.

Personally I need at least 3 GB a month. But I guess for just email and facebook 1 gb is enough.

Hi i'm upgrading my phone in a couple of weeks and think i'm going to succumb to the iphone frenzy, after having a blackberry for 2 years.

I've been looking at different plans, and i was just wondering if 1Gb of data would be ok for an iphone 5 16Gb?

I really don't understand how this Gb stuff works to be honest! What's the difference between the 16Gb size of the phone and the 1Gb of data you have to pay for?

Please help, i'm useless with this kind of thing lol!

  • Would 1gb of data be enough for the iphone 4s? I plan on getting the 1gb of data per month and wondering if it would be enough for me because i don't want to go over and pay loads of money. I would be on twitter, instagram and snapchat mostly, but connecting to Wi-Fi when available. Also should i turn my data off everytime i can connect to Wi-Fi to save data or will it not be used when connected to Wi-Fi? When should i turn data off.
  • Will 1GB of data a month be enough for an iPhone? I'm thinking of getting an iPhone, but only the small plan, which has only 1GB of data a month. The only thing I go on the internet for on my phone is Facebook. Will it be enough data? Or will it be constantly looking for updates and stuff and use internet data? My old phone did that and took away heaps.
  • Is 1GB of data enough on an IPhone 4s? So next weekend I'm getting an IPhone 4s on contract. Thing is, I don't know how much data I should get… I know I'm going to be using a lot of internet, but only for things like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Google. I won't really be watching videos. I will be using the internet when I go out, though. Do you think that's enough? X
  • Is 1GB of data enough for me? I'm getting an iPhone so I will mainly be using Facebook and Twitter apps, and occasionally searching on Google. I browse Facebook and Twitter every hour or two hours depending on where I'm, and search Google once a day or once every two days. When I'm at home, I will connect to the Wi-Fi. I will get a 1GB internet data allowance per month: is this enough for my daily internet needs?
