Is iphone 6 worth buying if I primarily want to use it for photography?

Is the image quality really that good as shown in the samples?

A camera that is in the best quality is more expensive than an iPhone. However if your in need of a phone I would go with any samsung smart phone starting from the S3 and higher. The cameras that I have used on all of these is really nice.

No. If you primarily want a camera, buy a camera.

The iPhone 6 camera hardware is good by mobile phone standards and was originally designed for the iPhone 5s. But it still has the limitations of a tiny image sensor and the software/firmware package which runs it is absolutely appalling and ruins many images with the over aggressive and non-user adjustable noise reduction and sharpening. It's far worse in that respect on the iPhone 6 than it ever was on the iPhone 5s.

On that basis, if you remain determined to buy one primarily because of the camera then save cash and buy the cheaper iPhone 5s instead. You then also gain the additional advantage in that the original phone it was designed for is slightly thicker so the lens doesn't stick out at the back attracting scratches and other damage like it does in the iPhone 6.

Iphones have great cameras but no cellphone camera will ever be a true professional camera.

Yes. I've had no problem with it for its camera prowess, but as others have said a dedicated camera would be better than a smartphone camera if that is the intent.

A smartphone would be a poor substitute for a real camera. First, it has no zoom lens as do even inexpensive point-and-shoot cameras. Second, It has a very small sensor which affects photo quality, especially in low light.

The iPhone has an ok camera. For about the same price, i would recommend the canon t5i. It is better for taking pictures and video.

You may want to simply buy a good camera

Just buy a dslr

Absolutely not. The camera has a fixed 28mm lens (equivalent to 35mm format) which has so much wide-angle distortion that it makes people look ugly. If I had a dollar for every question posted here asking "Why do I look so ugly in my phone photos," I'd be rich. The exposure system is very primitive. Instead of being able to control the shutter and aperture, all you have is a brightness control. This is because smartphones don't have apertures or shutters.

Instead of spending $500 on an iPhone 6, you can easily get an amazing camera that produces images that sharper, clearer, better color, contrast, zoom lens. Consider this: you can buy an entire replacement camera module for an iPhone 6 off of eBay for around $10. That's a $10 camera in a $500 phone.

People will often tell me how great their images are from an iPhone 6. My sister has one. However, they're only looking at the shots on their little, tiny LCD screen. Make a print or display it onto a computer monitor and all of sudden all the noise and artifacts just pop off the screen. I noticed this after a party where I used my DSLR, she used her iPhone 6 and someone else used a Sony point and shoot. Without question, the images from the iPhone were the worst. In most cases they were unusable because they were taken inside.

  • It the virgin mobile non-contact iphone 4 worth buying? So I want to get the iphone 4 from target, but I'm not very happy about the price tag ($549.99 + $35 a month with 300 min. With Unlimited messaging and data) That's a *** load of money for one phone, but I like the plan though. Should I get the iphone or get some other non-contract phone from the target store?
  • Is the iPhone 5s still worth buying or would I wait for the iPhone 6? So I've been iPhone 4 for about a year now and I decided to have an upgrade because it's running so slow on iOS 7:c I'm wondering if the 5s is still new and up to date because the iPhone 6 is coming up and Apple usually buries their older iPhones when two years go by. Like is it worth getting the 5s rather than waiting on the 6 and is it still up to date with technology right now
  • Is it worth buying an iphone from an apple store? I don't want to go on any sort of long term plan to pay for the phone. I would just like to buy it outright. If there are any places that are trustworthy that you would recommend, that would help.
  • Is iPhone 5 and iPhone 4s still worth buying? I heard that Apple will cut the support to iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and 5c it's that true? Does that mean that if I buy iPhone older models then I can no longer download apps from Apple app store? I would still like to buy it over newer iPhones because how cheap they are now and I haven't had iPhone experience before?
