Is it better to take my photo's by my iphone or a digital camera?

It was my birthday yesterday! Whoo! ^.^ & I'm a massive fan of social media, such as instagram, Facebook, stagagram e.t.c: I love taking selfies. Anyway, for my birthday I got a Sony cyber shot digital camera, will a digital camera give me more professional looking photos than my iphone? <3

Thinking that a P&S camera, no matter how good it is will produce professional images is not realistic.

Yes, the Sony has an optical zoom lens and probably a slightly larger sensor, but until you learn the fundamentals of photography, start using a fully adjustable camera, learn how to compose brilliant images, your images will not even get close to being professional looking.

What you can expect from the Sony is images that are sharp and you will have the ability to use the optical zoom to get higher resolution images without needing to walk up closer to the subject like you would when using your iPhone, but produce professional images? Nope. That can only be expected from someone with many years experience using a camera and while many advanced amateurs can produce images that rival the pros, the amateurs usually have just as much experience as a working pro, but they do not have to depend upon their camera to support their families.

I think any digital camera will be better then a cellphone even if iphone has a good camera, you would have better real zoom for sure.

Is this even a question. Omg.

Well the camera has optical zoom.

A phone doesn't.

Does that mean the photos will automatically look more "professional"? No.

Does that mean a selfie will look better? No, not if you use it at arms length like you do with your phone.

Well, here's a thought.
You could try taking a few photos with each device and then YOU decide which is better.
