Is it legal to jailbreak a iPhone?

IPhone 3 iOS 6.1.3

Yes it is legal here is proof.

No, it's only illegal to jailbreak a jail.

Okay jailbreaking is legal. The only illegal thing about it is if you do something to download something that you have to pay for for free then it becomes illegal.

Jailbreaking is perfectly legal. I've jailbroken hundreds of iphones/ipods for people. Now if you were to ask this question 3 years ago it would be questionable. But the government made it legal a few years back. It is against Apple's Terms and Conditions, so if you were to go to Apple to get your phone fixed, they won't fix it. Also if you were to trade it in they won't take it unless you un-jailbreak it. To unjailbreak your idevice all you have to do it go to itunes and do a restore.

If you jailbreak your iphone, the only thing that will make it illegal is if you use installous to download apps that would normally cost money and get them for free. Its like utorrent and pirate bay for the iphone.

  • Unlocking iPhone 3GS still legal? Is unlocking an iPhone 3GS still legal? I know they just passed a new law saying you can't unlock phones, but "legacy phones" are still legal to unlock. Does an iPhone 3GS count as a legacy phone?

  • Is it legal to sell iPhone cases? My cousin has an on-line shop, and she mainly sells cell phone cases. Now she plans to sell iPhone cases, including the cases for iPhone 5. She wants me to help her sell the cases. So I was wondering whether selling iPhone 5 cases is a infringing act or not.
