Is It Safe To Ride A Greyhound Bus?

I'm seeing my big sister in Calgary… And it takes 3 hours to get there from Edmonton. Leaving on Wed. But there's only a 15 min stop. I'm only bringing my Iphone 4S, and ear buds for my carry on, and my luggage is going in the deparment. I'm so nervous/excited. Never been alone on a travel bus before. But once I did it with my class when we went to WE day in grade 6. Is there a bathroom?

Added (1). And also its only one stop. Also do they keep track of your luggage?

Yes it's safe. People do it everyday and yes there's a bathroom on the bus.

It is relatively safe. Passengers and their luggage go through security checks. Your luggage will be loaded onto the bus shortly before it departs and unloaded when you get to your destination. They probably utilize some sort of electronic system like airports do to track the bags as they are loaded on/off. If you do not switch buses, then it is even less likely your bags will be lost.

I would carry a small purse or waist pack, etc. To put your phone in when you are not using it, and you will also need to have your identification and any cash on you, your ticket, etc. You might want to carry your charger as well and any small things you might need during the trip- a drink, snack, gum, chapstick, feminine products.

Yes, there's a bathroom.

Your luggage must be tagged before you board, that's how it is "tracked." It should be next to impossible for them to lose your luggage, but you must still be vigilant. Most luggage that is lost happens to be with transfers, as it gets on the wrong bus. Your bus is direct, so I'd be a little less inclined to worry about it. The 15 min stop in Red Deer is just a stretch break. Do not wander from the sight of the bus, as it may depart without people, and you don't want to be stranded waiting for the next one.

WOW Stayathomemomonthego clearly has never rode the bus before, for starters what security checks? When are at the bus station you will get a destination tag for your bag and it is your responsibility to bring your bag to the side of the bus to be loaded and your responsibility to claim your bag in Calgary! But keep in mind you are taking a short trip once you get to Calgary just wait on the side of the bus for your bag to be offloaded it's not like you are going cross country! Overall the bus is pretty safe, bus terminals can have some sketchy people hanging around especially in really big cities like Los Angeles, but once you r on the bus put some music on sit back and relax, once you get to Red Deer grab a soda or something get back on the bus and just cruise down to Calgary!

  • Why doesn't my iPhone 4 work on the bus? I can have a strong 3G connection but my Internet just won't load up same for the App Store and Facebok.
  • Which is a good iphone apps are good that tells you bus times exactly? One of my friend have a free app in iPhone that tells him bus times exactly correct. Which is a good reliable app that tells me bus times. Kindly tell me
  • What to do on a long bus ride? I'm going on an overnight field trip to Chicago soon and I don't know what to do on the bus! It's about a 6-8 hour drive and I don't have an iphone or iPod touch, I do have a regular iPod that just plays music though. Also I will be with friends, if that helps!
  • SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AT MY SCHOOL BUS STOP? Everyday I've noticed a man in a black vehicle drivin past my bus stop. I thought it was normal at first, just a man going to work. Today he parked near the bus (I was watching close enough to clearly see) and he took out his green iPhone and was TAKING PHOTOS of the middle schoolers getting on the bus. I'm nervous to go there now.
