Is it worth going to small claims court?
About a month ago I was at a friends house and theyg. It into a fight and he ended up throwing my iPhone out the front door. My screen was already alittle cracked but now it's about 60% worse that whole top corner is taken out, and my cameras broke. He told me he's not gonna give me the money to else it so I said I'm gonna file a police report and get it that way. My friend asked me not to and said she'll give me the money for it at Christmas. I never got the money and my phone is still broken. So is it to late to file a report against him, also is it worth paying the money to file?!
It all depends on what you think. If your phone contract is almost up ( 9 months or less ) I wouldn't bother unless your fingers get cut or your iPhone is unusable. If its a work phone I would defiantly file a case, you don't need your boss to see it. If it is a Iphone 5 or up I would file a case because those are expensive. In all, it only depends on how much you use your phone and how important it is too you.
If the value of the item is $500 or more and if you can go to court without losing work time/wages, and if you have at least one reliable witness who was not drunk or stoned at the time, who will also take the time to come to court with you and it it costs less than $100 to file the claim then it can be worth it. Forget all the boohaw about who said they would or wouldn't pay etc, etc. He threw the phone, it was broken because of that, someone besides you saw it happen, end of story. Of course if he hasn't got the money everyone has wasted their time and your nickle.
