Is Lost iPhone Data Protection Better on iOS 7 active Apple devices?

Added (1). From a data privacy point of view. That is, if I lose my iPhone, can I be sure that all my contacts, pictures, messages and other confidential data won't be misused by anyone who finds it (and decides not to return it)?

What do you mean by that? You as the user of the phone have to make some kind of effort to keep your information safe. If the phone wipes out you had better already have something planned.

I use icloud for my personal content. I know it doesn't back up photos permanently and therefore take precautions.

So long as you have an iCloud account and Apple ID, you have ways of either retrieving your iPhone or locking it up if it's unrecoverable.

Sure, as a mobile operating system, iOS 7 is more secure and supports Apple's trademark enhancements to data protection. It may not be obvious at first but you need to dig into the interface to uncover the hidden gems. But this is limited largely to software security.

As far as your lost or stolen iPhone is concerned (the hardware device itself), you can remote wipe it and prevent activation so that the thief can't sell your phone or use it himself.

  • Will all data share across devices on iPhones with the same Apple ID? My dad recently got an iPhone 4s for his birthday and I currently have an iPhone 6. My iMessages went on to his phone without me putting on any sharing settings. I do not have iCloud or anything like that. I was wondering if any other things will go through on his phone
  • Why would Apple make FaceTime only compatible with iOS devices? It doesn't make sense what if someone has an Android! Then FaceTime is useless to the person with the iPhone who wants to video chat with the person with the Android. Someone please tell me why Apple did this, I know it's a stupid question but its bugging me
