Is the Verizon iPhone 5 still unlocked?

I ordered mine at the end of last month and got it the day before yesterday. I saw the specs on the verizon website and this is what it says:
Network
GSM model A1428: UMTS/HSPA+/DCHSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 4 and 17)
CDMA model A1429: CDMA EVDO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DCHSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
GSM model A1429: UMTS/HSPA+/DCHSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)

So would that mean that the iPhone 5 from Verizon is still unlocked? The Verizon iPhone 5 has a sim slot and I'm saying this because people who answered my last question said that it did not. I do not plan on opening up the iPhone 5 box until I can verify that it is unlocked. I will be paying the early termination fee so I wouldn't have Verizon service on it anymore. I know there are many articles stating that the Verizon iPhone 5 is in fact unlocked but those articles were from a month ago and I even asked Verizon representatives if they even ever were unlocked and all of them I've asked say "no".So for those who got their iPhone 5 from Verizon this month, are these models still unlocked? Please answer ONLY if you tried.

It is but you aren't saving any money really versus buying an unlocked phone outright since there's the activation fee as well, plus you're still responsible for all charges on the phone up until the day you cancel.

  • Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.

  • Is Verizon iPhone 5 still unlocked? I just bought a new verizon iphone 5 (15th Nov) and plan to travel to Europe & Asia in the next few weeks. It will save me a lot if i could pop in a local sim card instead of paying exorbitant roaming rates. I read a lot of reviews which said the verizon iphone came unlocked (atleast for calls and text) at the time of launch. I wish to know if its still the same or do i need to pay a fee or inform Verizon or something? All help Appreciated.
