Is Verizon iPhone 5 still unlocked?
I just bought a new verizon iphone 5 (15th Nov) and plan to travel to Europe & Asia in the next few weeks. It will save me a lot if i could pop in a local sim card instead of paying exorbitant roaming rates. I read a lot of reviews which said the verizon iphone came unlocked (atleast for calls and text) at the time of launch. I wish to know if its still the same or do i need to pay a fee or inform Verizon or something?

Last time i checked, CDMA was not compatible with GSM sim cards. And i have never heard of a CDMA Unlocked phone before.
I don't think so you should go to verizon
Verizon said they weren't going to lock them so its safe to assume that that is still the case.
- Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.
- Verizon iPhone 5 comes gsm unlocked so if the esn is bad can you still use gsm? I was wondering sense the iPhone 5 for Verizon come GSM unlocked, if the ESN is bad can it still be used with GSM networks? Please let me know thanks
- Iphone has defect screen but still connects to itunes, does the iphone still work? My iphone was ran over by a car and the screen is completely shattered. when i connect it to my laptop, the iphone appears in itunes and i can access all pictures, videos,… now my question is: does this mean that the iphone still functions properly and just needs a new screen?
- If I unlock my Verizon Iphone 4, will I still be able to have Verizon service? I want to use my iphone with a different company, but I don't want to have a lapse in cellphone service.
